2027 RB Amir Brown Still High On Notre Dame
One of Notre Dame’s top targets in the Class of 2027 is paying close attention to what the Irish are doing in the Class of 2026.
“I love Notre Dame,” 2027 North Carolina running back Amir Brown says. “Their '26 class is making a lot of buzz. I think they're #2, if I'm not mistaken.
“They just got a commitment from a linebacker in the '27 class. I have a lot of love for Notre Dame and the coaches and the program. And relationships are what I'm big about.”
In South Bend, Brown’s strongest bond is with Irish running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider.
“Me and Coach Seider have a great relationship, so just building that relationship with him and just moving forward,” Brown says. “We just check up on each other every day; sending reels, laughing with each other. It's not always about football. I would say that's a plus, we can talk to each other about anything besides football.”
Brown, who has offers from Notre Dame, North Carolina, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Miami, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon and Stanford among several others, continues to say the Irish are one of the very top schools on his list.
A visit to South Bend in April helped install Notre Dame so high on the Rolesville High School star’s list.
“It was amazing,” he said. “The campus is just different. I don't even know a college that has a campus like Notre Dame. It's just different. Right when you step foot on campus, you're just seeing something different, that means a lot.
“The culture in the running back room speaks for itself with what they do with the running backs. The running backs get used a lot in that offense, which I love. You see Jeremiyah Love. He's a versatile back. He can go to the slot, that's what I can do. I'm a three-down back; I can run, block, catch and Jeremiyah Love can do the same thing. We've got a lot of things in common. I'm just willing to do anything for the team.”
The 5-foot-11, 205-pounder already has plans to return for Notre Dame’s home opener against Texas A&M on Sept 13th, when he expects “a surreal atmosphere.”
“I know it's going to be packed,” he said. “I know Texas A&M is going to be looking for getback. So just enjoy the atmosphere, enjoy the game, see some great football while I'm there.”
Texas, Oregon, Ohio State, North Carolina, Michigan and Tennessee are also high on Brown’s list and he’s hoping to make it to Austin and Knoxville for games this fall as well.
He plans to make an announcement sometime after his upcoming season and will be evaluating relationships and history of development when he makes that choice.
Right now, the Irish are in a good spot because of both.
“They still sit high on my board, most definitely. Coach Freeman just texted me not that long ago about how I did at Future 50; Coach Seider, same thing. We was talking about my performance. I shined. Coach Seider gave me some tents, some great feedback. Being able to get that from a coach like Coach Seider, that just means a lot.”
