Julius Jones Jr.‍ has been spending the offseason trying to get better.

“Really just working on my body, trying to get ready for the season,” the 2027 Florida receiver told Irish Sports Daily. “Really getting more technical; technical in my routes and more thorough through everything. I feel like I'm a really good raw athlete and once I master my craft, I'll be great.

“I've been working with my trainer and just throughout the school with my receiver coach, Coach Holt, Glenn Holt. He is a great, great coach. He knows everything and my receiver trainer is really great as well.”

Jones Jr. has also been keeping up with recruiting and actually touched base with Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman on Tuesday.

“Just saying hello, checking in, seeing how I'm doing, seeing how the summer's been and everything,” Jones Jr., said of Freeman’s message.

“I've just been in touch with everybody, just trying to see what's going on and hopefully get up there pretty soon.”

Jones Jr., said “it’s great” to be in contact with the Irish head coach.

“He is a great guy,” the 5-foot-11, 160-pounder said. “I can really tell that the team wants to win for him. They play for him and they play through him and just really put all of their power into the game just through him to win for him.

“It is good hearing from him and understanding that I am a priority in the class and just having that in the back of my mind is really good.”

He doesn’t have a date set yet to get to South Bend, but said it will be this fall.

“Definitely one of the games, we've got to get up there this season and see a good home game,” he said.

The son of the former Notre Dame star running back by the same name, Jones Jr., is looking forward to his first-ever trip to South Bend.

“I just feel like because of the mystique of Notre Dame and it really has such a big impact, getting up there and seeing a night game and really understanding the whole vibe that you get,” he said.

“From what my dad said, it's definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience and something that you only get at Notre Dame. I've just been saving it for that.”

Jones Jr. also wants to get to LSU, Florida and Miami for games this fall.
