Since being offered by Notre Dame on St. Patrick’s Day, Cantrell Eubanks II‍ has kept in touch with the Irish coaching staff, including Marcus Freeman.

“We've just been talking about getting me down there,” the 2027 California running back said of himself and the Notre Dame head coach.

“He's just been telling me he thinks it'd be a good fit and he could see me playing at Notre Dame one day in the future. He's just keeping the relationship going with me, making sure we stay in touch so I can get down there and hopefully be in that uniform one day.”

The Victor Valley High School star is honored to be building a relationship with Freeman.

“It feels good because it's the head coach, so it's the head of the whole program,” Eubanks said. “That just lets me know that I'm doing something right and the head coach has been noticing my talent and wants me at that school one day.”

The 6-foot, 210-pounder has also been in touch with Notre Dame running backs coach JaJuan Seider.

“We've had conversations,” Eubanks said. “He's just chopping it up; the same thing, seeing how my summer has been, what I've been working on and just trying to get me down there.”

Eubanks also has offers from schools like Arizona, Penn State and Ole Miss among others.

He’s never been to Notre Dame, but he already has a good sense of the program.

“It's just a brotherhood over there,” he said. “Everybody competes, everybody wants to win. You could even notice that in the playoffs, this last playoff run, they had. Some of those schools that they played against, they had better players, but Notre Dame wanted it more and they came together as a team in brotherhood and you could tell that their bond is bigger than football.

“That's just something I'd love to be a part of.”

He’s planning visits to Notre Dame, Arizona and Memphis for games in September.

Eubanks expects to start trimming his list down methodically through the fall. He has an understanding of what he’s looking for in a college.

“First things first, a school where I could get developed,” he said. “I am looking at the running back coach trying to see, can this guy develop me and can this guy take my game from good to legendary?

“Secondly, just the school that shows the brotherhood. I want to go to a program where I know the guys got my back the same way I got their back and I'm going to play full speed every snap no matter what. I just want to go somewhere where the brotherhood is good and I know we're going to fight for each other and give each other 100 percent every night.”
