Jerry Outhouse has compiled dozens of big-time offers already.
The 2027 Texas cornerback counts Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Georgia, Miami, Ole Miss, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas and Oregon among several others.
Since picking up his offer from the Irish back in March, the North Crowley High School star has kept in touch with Irish defensive backs coach Mike Mickens and defensive analyst Jevaughn Codlin.
Their message has been a relatively simple one, letting the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder know they like his length and ball skills and want him to be a part of the Irish.
Outhouse has been impressed with both Mickens and Codlin personally.
“I would say overall, they're good people,” Outhouse said. “They communicate with me a lot. They treat me like family already and I haven't even really been there yet. They just treat my family through the phone.”
Outhouse doesn’t know a ton about Notre Dame just yet, but hopes to make it to South Bend for a game this fall.
“See how they are,” Outhouse said of what he’d be looking for. “What the game is like in the beginning, the warmups, all of that. How they connect, how they get crunked before the games and see how they coach when they're down or when they're up. And the atmosphere around, how the fans are.”
Outhouse is planning a busy fall, but doesn’t have anything locked in to this point.
“I've really got a lot of schools, but I haven't set up any dates or nothing,” he said.
Earlier this month, Outhouse released a Top 15. His current leaders include Notre Dame, Oregon, TCU, Georgia, Nebraska, Miami, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, SMU, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Arizona State and Oklahoma.
He’s planning to trim his list to a Top 10 next before making a final decision around this time next year.
Relationships will be important throughout the process as he works toward making that next cut and ultimately a final decision.
“Really, the connection that they've got with me and the relationship that we built so I can have trust in them,” he said of what will matter most.
“And the school.”
