Notre Dame defensive coordinator Chris Ash spoke following Saturday's practice. 

On what he sees in his defense at this point:
”We're just trying to compete to get better every day. There's been a really solid foundation. There's been high standards set here. These guys have been coached well. There's a lot of belief in themselves and what we're doing and how we do business here and that's a great place to start.
