Caden Waye has already gathered dozens of scholarship offers and the 2027 Georgia running back added another one on Monday, when he heard from Notre Dame running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider.
“The running back coach called me up and offered me,” the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder told Irish Sports Daily.
“He was like, 'I heard a lot about you. I've seen your film. You're a great player. I feel like you can play up here.' He told me a little bit about Notre Dame, their alumni, what's going on up there, their running back room and all that.”
The Ola High School standout also has offers from schools like Ohio State, Texas, Oregon, Michigan, Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Michigan and USC among several others.
“Every offer means a lot,” he said. “Every offer is the opportunity to play at the next level. Every offer, I take into consideration.”
He still has plenty to learn about the Irish and doesn’t know much more than what Seider told him on Monday.
“I didn't really know a lot about Notre Dame except for Jeremiyah Love,” he said.
But Waye’s initial impressions of Seider were positive.
“I liked him,” he said. “He seemed like a very down to earth guy; pretty genuine, pretty cool guy.
“We talked about maybe playing a gameday visit.”
Waye isn’t sure just yet if he’ll be able to fit that into his schedule, but sees it as an opportunity for him to learn more.
“I definitely want to see how the coaching staff actually coaches their players, how they respond to all that,” he said. “I want to see the environment, really just how everything looks all together.”
He has some other trips already mapped out.
“I'm planning on going out to Oregon, Texas, Ohio State, Ole Miss and South Carolina,” he said.
It’s still a little early, but Waye knows what he wants in a college.
“Definitely a place that's going to develop me on and off the field, really in a place that's a family environment, a place that's going to push me, help me get better, and get me to the next level, which is the NFL.”
