Big-Time 2027 Cali CB Jailen Hill Fired Up For Notre Dame Return
After visiting Notre Dame back in the spring, Jailen Hill will be back again this weekend for the Irish’s home opener against Texas A&M.
“I think it's going to be great,” the elite 2027 California cornerback tells Irish Sports Daily. “I can't wait to go back up to South Bend. I had a great experience last time, so I just hope it's great again.”
The St. John Bosco star holds offers from schools like Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Florida State and Miami among several others.
Hill was intrigued enough about Notre Dame to take his initial trip back in April and his interest was piqued even more because of that.
“Just the experience, just learning about everything, not about football, the education, the alumni at Notre Dame,” he says of what interests him about the Irish. “Just everything.”
He’s continued to build relationships with secondary coach Mike Mickens, defensive analyst Jevaughn Codlin and even head coach Marcus Freeman since.
“Just keeping that same relationship and just building it even more,” he says. “Getting them calls. Everything was great from talking to Coach Freeman, just everything. They've been keeping their words.
“Coach Mickens, Coach Jevaughn, Coach Freeman, all great guys. Not just great coaches, just great individuals, great human beings. Just checking in on me, making sure I'm good. Everything is not about football with them, so I just appreciate them for that.”
He’s looking forward to this weekend’s return.
“I've never been to a game before, so just being in the stadium, seeing all the fans, seeing the coaches coach, seeing how the gameplan goes with the corners and the nickels,” he says. “Just seeing how everything goes. I just can't wait to see the whole experience.”
He’s already visited USC this season and is also expected to make stops at Texas A&M later in the fall along with potential visits to Indiana, Oklahoma and Nebraska.
The 6-foot-3, 170-pounder is looking for a program with coaches he can trust.
“Just relationships and keeping their word,” he says. “Also, just always keeping it just real with me at all times, not sugarcoating anything. That's all.
“If a coach sticks to those things, it will be okay. Everything will be good, relationship will be great, talking almost every day or every week.”
