He had to wait a while to find out, but JT Geraci was happy to learn he’d earned an offer from Notre Dame based on his performance at Irish Invasion back in June.
The 2027 New Jersey tight end returned to South Bend this weekend, when he was told of the offer before the Irish’s game against Purdue.
“Coach (Mike) Denbrock is the one who offered me,” Geraci said. “He told me that I worked hard at camp and earned my offer.
“I was one of the only tight ends at Irish Invasion without an offer and it just motivated me to push harder. It paid off.”
The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder also has offers from schools like Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, Florida, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, Duke, Syracuse and Boston College among others.
The Irish offer is one he wanted dearly.
“Notre Dame has always been high on my list,” the Don Bosco Prep standout said. “It’s one of the few programs I visited in the spring and only one of two places I camped at for the Irish Invasion.
“During my spring visit I met Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa and developed a special relationship. He was a Notre Dame captain and played in the NFL. He has a special insight into Notre Dame and has been a great person to talk to.”
Geraci has been busy so far this fall and has a couple other trips in mind as well.
“So far, I’ve visited Florida, Ohio State, Texas and Notre Dame for games,” he said. “I’ll hit an Alabama game and maybe a Boston College game.”
He has a good idea of what he’s looking for in a college.
“Trying to find a place with high academics with a chance to win a national championship,” he said. “Looking for a program that can develop me.”
Notre Dame feels familiar to Geraci.
“Notre Dame reminds me of Don Bosco- winning environment, great coaches, spiritual development, brotherhood and an academic rigor.”
