A couple Pac-12 offers show Elisha Guidry has already established himself as a high-level player on the field while a pair of offers from Ivy League institutions show he’s established himself as a high-caliber student in the classroom.

That’s a combination that often gets Notre Dame’s attention and it has with Guidry.

The 6-foot-1, 177-pounder from Murrieta, Calif., has been in contact with Irish assistant Brian Polian.

“It’s just been little conversations with him asking me how I’m doing and how things are going,” the Vista Murrieta High School standout said.

“He told me he’s going to come out during our spring to come watch me.”

Guidry currently has offers from Oregon State, Washington State, Yale, Dartmouth and Northwestern. He’s excited to know he’s on Notre Dame’s radar.

“It’s a pretty good feeling that a school like that would look at me,” he said. “It’s a good feeling that a top program is taking the time to look at me.”

He knows a bit about Notre Dame, but wants to learn more.

“I’ve watched them play a lot,” he said. “I know about the history. I’m interested to find out more about the program and watch the defense more, watch them more.”

Guidry, who has been clocked at 4.5 in the 40-yard dash, is looking forward to showing Polian what he can do.

“I think I can show him how I play and show him what I have to offer,” he said. “I can cover well and I have a long frame and can keep up with covering receivers well.”

Academics are obviously important to Guidry.

“I know football isn’t going to be forever, so I have to prepare for after football,” he explained. “I’ve always been taught that you’re a student first, so I’ve got to take care of my stuff and football just comes after.

“I have to see what the programs have to offer and see the school part and then the football part and find a good mixture of both.”

He’s looking at majoring in either Economics or Communications.

He took a Junior Day visit to Stanford and said he would like to visit South Bend if the Irish were to offer at some point.

He isn’t in a rush to make a decision, saying it’ll likely come after his senior season.
