Jevyn Severson took in Notre Dame’s home win over Boise State on Saturday and the 2028 Iowa tight end was impressed.
“It was fun,” the Madrid High School star told Irish Sports Daily afterward.
“It was a good experience.”
Severson was able to get a peek into the Notre Dame Football program.
“I was able to see how they ran their offense and how they talk coach-wise,” the 6-foot-6, 230-pounder said afterward. “Just being able to be around all the coaches today was pretty special.”
He liked what he saw from the Irish offense.
“Their offense is what I'd like to see myself in,” Severson said. “Being able to utilize tight ends, being able to have a strong run game.”
Severson also liked the staff members he met during the trip.
“I feel like they're very personable, being able to understand players with their best judgment and stuff,” he said. “I was able to talk to a lot of the recruiters like Justice Bathas and Carter Auman and the assistant tight end coach, Coach (Harris) Bivin.
“There are some great guys at Notre Dame. I'm looking forward to being able to build a connection in the next few years in this recruitment process for Notre Dame.”
Severson has several Power-4 offers already from Iowa State, Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Texas A&M.
He’s made stops at some of the schools that have offered him already, but said the environment in South Bend was different.
“The atmosphere was crazy,” he said. “I don't think I've ever been around a crazier atmosphere, I would say, It's just a different way of life for football in this area.”
He wants to get back, but isn’t sure when yet.
“Just get over here as much as I can, be around and build a connection,” he said. “I do not know when I'm going to be back yet. I'm going to try to be back in the springtime, if not, then summer.”
He goes to Kansas State next week and Iowa the week after.
But Notre Dame’s history with tight ends has his full attention.
“Them being able to produce tight ends to the next level, which I see myself being able to maximize my potential and become a pro.”
