Kellen Wymer‍ visited Notre Dame this past weekend and before the 2027 Ohio offensive lineman left South Bend, Irish offensive line coach Joe Rudolph said he wanted to hop on the phone with him sometime this week.

That phone conversation occurred on Tuesday evening and resulted in the 6-foot-5, 270-pound Wymer landing an offer from Notre Dame.

“It’s just a blessing and I’m really grateful for the opportunity,” Wymer told Irish Sports Daily of the offer. “They are a great school academically and athletically.”

The Liberty Center High School standout also has offers from schools like Ohio State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Indiana, Duke, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt and Auburn among others.

Wymer’s first trip to South Bend was impressive.

“The game was awesome,” he said. “It was a great time.

“The atmosphere was crazy. It was awesome. You can definitely tell it's a football town for sure.”

Wymer was certainly impressed by the Irish’s offensive line during their 34-24 win over USC.

“I think it was obvious the o-line dominated the game,” he said. “I think if you're really going to credit anyone for this win, I think you're going to give it to the o-line; opening holes the whole game. You saw that run Jeremiyah Love had in the first quarter. That o-line gave him a huge haul and he took advantage of. I think they paved the way for him. That was awesome.

“They were physical, they were efficient and effective. They were moving, they were pulling, they're all athletic guys. It was really impressive.”

Wymer had the chance to speak with Rudolph while he was on campus.

“He was happy I was there,” Wymer said of Rudolph. “We got to talk a little bit before they had to go to the stadium. We were just able to catch up.

“I think he's a great guy. Whenever I'm texting him, he's real personal and you can tell he really cares by how he texts you and stuff. He's a real nice guy.”

Wymer was also able to speak with Joe Montana who addressed the recruits prior to the game.

“He was talking about why he chose Notre Dame and all the good it has and why he wanted his kids to go and check it out,” said Wymer. “He really just highlighted Notre Dame overall and what's so good about it.”

Wymer was also able to grab a picture with Montana.

“He asked me some of the schools that I had offers from,” Wymer said. “He told me not to worry about Ohio State. That's one thing I do remember that he said.”

Wymer heads to Indiana next before planned visits to Michigan State, Penn State and Ohio State.

He’s also planning to return to South Bend either this year or for a practice or Junior Day in the spring.

“I'm very impressed there. I'm very impressed with Notre Dame, without a doubt.”
