After visiting during the offseason, Chris Whitehead‍ was back in South Bend this past weekend for Notre Dame’s game against rival USC.

“It was good,” the 2027 Virginia edge defender said. “The game was real turnt, man. Watching the first two series when Jeremiyah Love took it 64 yards down the foot, it was good, man.”

The Lloyd C. Bird standout, who was offered by the Irish back in March, spent time talking with Notre Dame defensive line coach Al Washington and defensive line assistant Nick Sebastian.

“It was good,” Whitehead said. “Coach Washington told me to watch Boubacar (Traore) because I fit into what their scheme is and everything.”

Whitehead liked seeing how Traore is featured in the defense.

“He drops back, he goes into coverage, he goes along the d-line and everything,” Whitehead said. “So just watching that scheme, watching how I play, I think I could probably see myself there.”

Whitehead had the chance to speak with Traore about the game in the locker room afterward.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder was also impressed with Washington and Sebastian personally.

“They're both great people,” he said. “Coach Washington, he's a very straightforward guy. Coach Seabass, he's very cool and everything. He was the first one who came to my school and he was the first guy I talked to at Notre Dame, so they're both very good guys.”

Whitehead’s offer sheet also includes schools like Georgia, Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Texas A&M among others.

Whitehead doesn’t have any other visits locked in at the moment.

“As of right now, I don't know,” he said. “I don't really know right now because of my dad’s work schedule. I really just go off that.”

Even though isn’t sure when, he does plan on continuing to return to South Bend.

“Probably just keep coming back up,” he said. “I've got to see what my schedule is, see what my dad's schedule is for work and everything. But they're still in my Top 10 or whatever, but I haven't done that yet though.”

It’s the atmosphere, the people and the way they treat him that has him wanting to keep coming back to Notre Dame.

“Just the environment, just the love that they've shown me every time I've come down.”
