2028 RB Xander Edwards Talks Recent Notre Dame Return
Xander Edwards returned to Notre Dame again a couple weeks back and the 2028 Florida running back was again impressed.
“It went great,” Edwards said of his trip to South Bend for the Irish’s game against USC. “It was a great game, great atmosphere. They really showed love to all of the recruits and that was a great experience.”
The Bolles School star particularly appreciated the panel of former players, including Joe Montana and Bryant Young.
“It was awesome,” the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder said. “It was really cool to see that and talk with them and it was a great experience overall.”
Edwards’ father, Marc, was a former star running back for the Irish who was actually teammates with Young in South Bend back in the 90s, so Edwards is well-versed on Notre Dame. Still, it said something to him that the former players made themselves available.
“It means a lot that they took their time out of their day to do that,” said Edwards. “It really shows how Notre Dame is as a school, academically and athletically, and shows the type of people they can produce. It's great.”
Edwards has had a breakout sophomore season and has seen his offer sheet swell. It currently includes schools like Miami, Florida State, Vanderbilt, Pitt, Syracuse, Baylor and South Florida among several others.
While at Notre Dame, he had the chance to speak with Irish running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider and since he was joined by a couple of his Bolles teammates, he also crossed paths with defensive line coach Al Washington and quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli.
“They just said they liked my film and they just told me to keep grinding and they'll look at me,” Edwards said.
“They're great. They're great people. Again, it just shows how good Notre Dame people are.”
Edwards was certainly impressed with the output of the Irish running backs during their 34-24 win over USC.
“They were toting the ball,” said Edwards. “Both of them played great, over 200 yards rushing for Jeremiyah Love, which is crazy. And JaDaraian Price with that 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. It was amazing to watch.”
Edwards has made several visits already this season and is hoping to get to Miami and Indiana soon.
He’s also planning on returning to South Bend.
“I'm going to keep on visiting there, hopefully get an offer soon. And just open up my recruiting to anybody who shows me love.”
