The last time Rob Larson was in South Bend, the 2027 California receiver turned heads with his performance at Irish Invasion.
He returns this weekend for Notre Dame’s home game against Navy.
“I fly out Friday because we have a bye week this week,” the Folsom High School standout said.
“Obviously, I've always been a big Notre Dame guy. I've been talking with the coaches still. They texted me, wanted to make sure I got out to a game, so I wanted to definitely make that a priority for the games that I was going to go to this year.”
The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder currently has offers from schools like Washington, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, BYU, Utah, Oklahoma State, Cal, UCLA, Arizona State, Washington State and Illinois among others.
He’s honored that the Irish remain in touch with him.
“It feels great because they've always been a school I've been big on,” he said. “No matter what happens, I'm just glad to have this opportunity to be able to talk to the coaches, go back out there and check it out.
“I'm really excited to see game day in general, because I've heard so many crazy things about how the team walks out and just how the atmosphere is during that. That's really all I heard about from the coaches when I was there, so I'm really excited to see that in person.”
The Irish have their own process for extending scholarship offers, but if one were to ever come his way, Larson would be thrilled.
“Man, it would definitely mean a lot to me,” he said. “Like I said, Notre Dame has always been a favorite of mine. I already know how the coaches are there. I really like the coaches. I think they're building a great thing.
“Notre Dame really seems like a family, and that's kind of what I'm looking for in a school and a school that really wants me and seems like you could fit in there as a family. It would mean the world. Yeah, it'd mean a lot.”
Larson has already made a handful of gameday visits this fall.
“I went to a USC game,” he said. “I was just recently at Vanderbilt. I went to a Cal game.”
And has a couple more in mind the rest of the year.
“I'm also going to go to a Florida game later this month. I might be going to a Washington game also.”
