2019 Christian Brothers College High School (Mo.) defensive end MJ Anderson has seen his recruitment pick over the past couple months. The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder already holds offers from Iowa State, Purdue, and South Carolina, while several big-time programs have stopped to ask about him during the Spring Evaluation Period.

Anderson has been in contact with Notre Dame as area recruiter Todd Lyght stopped by last week and the two made sure to get in touch after the visit.

“I’ve talked with Coach Lyght, but I’ve been really waiting for my recruitment to pick up,” Anderson told Irish Sports Daily.

The Irish have recruited Christian Brothers College over the past few seasons, and it doesn’t look to be slowing down with the likes of Anderson and 2018 receivers Kamryn Babb and Cameron Brown also in communication with Notre Dame.

The St. Louis native doesn’t know much about Notre Dame but knows Brian Kelly has been there for quite some time.

“I know they have had a really good program for years,” stated Anderson. “They haven’t had a lot of coaches come in and out, so that’s really good to have a consistent staff.”

With the early offers in hand, Anderson isn’t too worried about the recruiting process for the time being. The soon to be junior is focused on improving his game for the fall.

“The early offers took some pressure off, but I wasn’t worried about it,” said Anderson. “I knew they were going to come, but not this early. I am happy and ready to get back on the field.”

Most programs see him as a 4-3 defensive end and that suits Anderson just fine. Anderson loves to attack the football, and that’s what he will have the chance to do at the next level.

“I love to pass rush and find the football,” stated Anderson. “I love chasing plays from the backside because of my speed. I have a long body, and I can move a little.”

Anderson will now start to plan his summer, which will include a few visits to schools that have offered and a few local programs.

“I am planning my visits our right now,” said Anderson. “Iowa State, Missouri, Nebraska, Purdue, and South Carolina are probably going to get visits.

“I am looking for a good school that fits my major and has a family environment. I just want to have the chance to play ball and get a good education. It will be nice to have fun on a nice campus too.”
