It’s early, but Deonte Flemings‍, has seen his recruitment go to a new level over the past few weeks.

A month ago, the 2028 Pennsylvania cornerback didn’t have any offers.

“I thought I was pretty good at football,” Flemings acknowledged. “I saw people in my class getting offers and stuff like that. I thought, 'Dang man, I want some of that love.' It made me hungry and really want offers.”

Then, on Oct. 22nd, one came, from Sacramento State.  Another came less than a week later, this time from Southern Miss. And then another that same day, this time from Syracuse. A few days later, UTSA came in with an offer. A week after that, West Virginia offered.

This past weekend, he landed an offer from Pitt following a visit for the Panthers’ game against Notre Dame.

“Now that I see them coming, it's crazy how fast they’ve come,” he said. “When somebody says, 'When one comes, they all come.' That's a true statement. That's very true. I got Sacramento State and they just all started coming and now it's just crazy. I'm just enjoying my time right now.”

And then, the Irish reached out, not with an offer, but with an invitation to their home finale against Syracuse this weekend.

“My Pitt offer set me up for more colleges,” he said. “The Notre Dame coaches started following me on Twitter and they just hit me up and asked me if I wanted to come down to the Syracuse game and I'm like, 'Yeah.'

“Growing up, I really liked Notre Dame. It was one of the colleges that stood out to me because they've always been good. They're one of the bigger colleges and I just really liked Notre Dame at a young age and stuck with me. So I said, 'Why not?'”

The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder is looking forward to this weekend’s trip.

“Going around the campus and stuff like that, seeing how that is, just the atmosphere, how they run the college and all that good stuff,” he said of what he’s looking to see. “How they treat their players before the game, the players' pregame routine and stuff like that, just being around those guys, seeing how they get prepared for the game.”

In addition to Pitt, Flemings has been to West Virginia and Syracuse and he has plans to get back to Syracuse next week.

“It's really great going around these game day visits to these colleges and looking at these different campuses and seeing which one I can choose in the future,” he said.

It’s early, but the McDowell High School standout has an idea of what he’ll be looking for when choosing a school.

“Which college feels like home, the one that just gives off that, 'Oh, this is where I need to be. These are the guys and the players I want to surround myself around. This is the environment I want to surround myself in,’” he said.

“That's about it, honestly; seeing what place feels like home. But I've still got two more years to decide where I want to go.”
