Tre Segarra‍ was fired up to add Notre Dame to an already-impressive offer sheet last month.

The 2027 South Carolina running back had been in touch with Irish Director of Recruiting Carter Auman, who said he wanted to connect Segarra with running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider, who extended the offer.

“I was really excited,” Segarra said. “Notre Dame's got a big brand so everybody knows about it and it's one of those schools that I've been keeping my eye on since before I really started in my career. It was good to get the offer.

“I'm Catholic, so it was one of those big schools that you look for, and I've got a lot of people in my circle who have been to Notre Dame and I heard good things about them.”

Segarra’s father and one of his coaches have visited South Bend in the past and both enjoyed their experiences.

The Irish made it clear they like what they’ve seen from the 5-foot-10, 205-pounder.

“They talked about my film obviously,” he said. “They said they liked my film and then my GPA was another thing they said that stood out to them and just things like that.”

Segarra’s offer sheet also includes schools like South Carolina, Clemson, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Miami, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Duke and Indiana among several others.

He’s hoping to visit South Bend for himself at some point.

“I definitely want for the next step to be going on a visit, maybe an official or unofficial, whatever works out best and then go from there,” he said.

“I'll probably end up going for a Junior Day or like I said, maybe an official visit, but it would end up being in that winter or spring time.”

He’s already made trips to Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, Clemson and Tennessee.

The people at the school and within the program will matter most to the Byrnes High School star.

“I really prioritize the people at the school,” he said. “I want a coach who I have chemistry with, who can develop me and ultimately win football games. Education is a good part too, somewhere I can get a degree that means something.”

Seider has made a strong first impression.

He seemed like a really cool guy. He's got a good resume, been in The League as a quarterback, sounds like he knows the game and so I was impressed.”
