After officially signing with Notre Dame earlier this month, Khary Adams‍ is ready to go.

“It's smooth,” Adams told Irish Sports Daily about having finally put pen to paper. “It feels good.

“It was exciting. Signing the papers and getting the deal sealed.”

The elite 2026 Maryland cornerback is one of the headliners of the best Notre Dame class in recent memory, but he said one of the group’s strengths is being one unit.

“It's already a brotherhood for real,” he said. “We all committed. We were all locked in, had no decommits, so you really feel the brotherhood.”

That bond was strengthened through numerous visits to campus together as well as a couple texting group chats that allowed them to get to know each other even better.

As for himself, Adams has his sights set on doing one thing on the football field when he arrives in South Bend next month.

“Competing,” he said. “A lot of competing. I'm a competitor, so I'm trying to get to it.

“Trying to get my schoolwork done and then just ball out for real.”

He’s one of dozens of early enrollees from the Irish’s 2026 class.

“We get a winter workout, spring ball and get acclimated,” he said of the benefits of arriving early. “It really is everything. I don't see any downside.”

The Notre Dame coaching staff has prepped Adams and his fellow classmates on what to be ready for.

“It is not going to be easy, but if you handle business, you're going to be in a good position,” he said of the message from the coaches.

As for the goal of the 2026 recruiting class, it’s a simple and obvious one.

“The goal is to bring a championship,” he said.

“It would mean a lot. They haven't seen one there in a while, just bringing it would be good.”

Adams is also doing some recruiting for the Irish as well, encouraging recently-offered 2028 corner Kinnard Mahomes to follow his footsteps to South Bend.

“We've been training together for like two, three years now,” Adams said of himself and Mahomes. “He's real sticky. He’s going to be real good. He's nice.

“I told him that, ‘If it's for you, it's for you. I'm not going to say for everybody. It's for a certain type of kid. But once you go up there, if you feel it's for you, then you should go there because there is no other place like it.’”
