2025 was quite the year for Notre Dame’s defense.

The opening two games represented a low point, but by season’s end, the Irish had developed into one of the nation’s top defensive units.

A significant piece of Chris Ash’s success stemmed from growth at the safety position. Outside of Adon Shuler, the group was young and in need of game reps, but also required expedited development.
