Notre Dame and defensive backs coach Todd Lyght continued the search for 2018 cornerbacks on Wednesday as Langston Hughes (Ga.) standout Telly Plummer added an offer from the Irish.

The 6-foot, 185-pounder worked out for Lyght and shortly after heard the good news.

“Coach Lyght watched me do a few drills on the field and then I was offered,” Plummer told Irish Sports Daily. “He has been telling me what’s up with the school and how they put guys in the NFL.”

The Georgia native was pretty excited about the offer as he had been patiently waiting on it for a few months.

“I was very excited because I have talked to Coach (Brian) Kelly already,” said Plummer. “Coach Lyght and I already have a great relationship, and I was patient.”

Plummer knows about Lyght’s background and believes it’s a bonus to the opportunities that await in South Bend.

“It makes a big difference,” Plummer said of Lyght. “I would be getting coached by a guy that had raw experiences and has been through the process. Plus, he made it to the NFL.”

The three-star prospect knows a few things about Notre Dame, and they match with what he is searching for in a program.

“I am looking at the academics and how well they graduate players,” stated Plummer. “I am also looking at the football side.”

Plummer holds over 20 offers from the likes of Colorado State, Indiana, Kansas State, Louisville, Purdue, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and West Virginia, but he wants to visit Notre Dame, and it could be soon.

“I will most likely visit Notre Dame in the summer,” said Plummer.
