Notre Dame's No. 1 priority in the Transfer Portal is beefing up the interior of the defensive line.

The Irish will get a shot to do that next week as UCF transfer Horace Lockett Jr. will visit Notre Dame January 5th-6th, as his agent, Ali Barnes of Delta Sports Group, told ISD.

Lockett, who is still considered an undergraduate transfer, recorded 12 tackles and one sack in 2025 for UCF after sustaining a torn pectoral muscle against Kansas State on September 27.

Before his transfer to UCF for the 2025 season, Lockett spent three seasons at Georgia Tech.

The 6-foot-6, 355-pounder missed the 2024 campaign due to a hand injury, but he did have a productive 2023 season. Lockett recorded 25 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss for the Yellow Jackets in 10 games as a redshirt freshman, including six tackles against Wake Forest.

Coming out of high school, Lockett was rated as a composite three-star defensive tackle out of Westlake High School in Atlanta. When Lockett committed to Georgia Tech, he had a top 8 of Florida State, Georgia, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon and West Virginia.

Lockett is also expected to make visits to Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss and South Carolina.
