According to multiple sources, Notre Dame is set to host Iowa State graduate transfer wide receiver Xavier Townsend for a visit on January 5–6.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Tampa native began his college career at UCF before spending his senior season with the Cyclones in 2025. While in Ames, Townsend recorded 18 receptions for 243 yards, added five rushing attempts for 18 yards and one touchdown.
Over three seasons at UCF, Townsend totaled 66 catches for 521 yards and four touchdowns. His most productive year came as a sophomore, when he hauled in 33 passes for 325 yards and three scores.
Townsend starred at Berkeley Prep (Fla.) and already has deep ties to Notre Dame as he was teammates with Tre and Troy Reader in high school.
During his senior season, Townsend starred as a running back, rushing for 1,209 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also contributed in the passing game, catching 19 passes for 434 yards and seven touchdowns from Troy Reader.
The duo is best known for going to Isidore Neuman (La.) and leaving with a 49-24 win over Arch Manning. Townsend rushed for 235 yards and four touchdowns, while he also added four catches for 109 yards and one touchdown.
Townsend is the No. 69 receiver in the portal by 247 Sports.
