Kaden Henderson‍ has remained in steady contact with Notre Dame following the hiring of Brian Jean-Mary as the Irish’s new linebackers coach.

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman made it a point to stay engaged with the 2027 Florida linebacker during the transition, calling multiple times before and on the day Jean-Mary was brought on board.

“He called me twice before the fact and he called me the day they hired the linebackers coach,” Henderson said. “I think the biggest thing he wanted to tell me is how much of a priority I am.

“He was making jokes saying if they couldn’t get a linebackers coach, he’d be a part-time linebackers coach to try to coach me.”

That level of communication stood out to the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder.

“I know he’s a busy man,” he said. “For him to always be in constant contact with me just means a lot about how much they think of the prospect I can be for their team and how much I can do for their program in the near future.”

In addition to Notre Dame, Henderson’s offer list includes schools like Alabama, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC and Wisconsin, among others.

Henderson has already begun building a bond with Jean-Mary.

“I just talked to Coach Jean-Mary (Monday),” he said. “We’re building a great relationship. I’m pretty much in contact with him heavily.”

The Jesuit standout described his early impressions of Jean-Mary as positive.

“He’s a great guy. Overall, a great person. Even better coach,” Henderson said. “Just being able to really coach guys and care about them and know the guys. He’s a really friendly guy, really great person, but eager and will push you to the max.”

A return trip to South Bend is on Henderson’s radar this spring.

“Absolutely,” he said of trying to get back to campus soon while adding he’s also considering an official at a later date.

The Tampa, Fla., native already has spring visits scheduled elsewhere.

He plans to visit Miami on March 3, Texas A&M on March 24 and Ohio State on April 4. Alabama and Tennessee are also schools he is attempting to see in the coming months.

“Not saying those are my top schools, but those are the schools that I have locked in visits with,” Henderson said.

After completing his spring schedule, Henderson plans to narrow his list to five schools for official visits.

“That’s the goal.”
