Notre Dame continues to prioritize 2027 Alabama defensive tackle Karlos May‍ as his relationship with the Irish continues to build momentum.

The 6-foot-3, 305-pounder has remained in steady contact with defensive line coach Charlie Partridge, who recently visited May on the road. Head coach Marcus Freeman has also connected with May by phone as the Irish continue to reinforce their interest.

“Right now everything’s going pretty well,” May said. “Coach Partridge is trying to get that relationship going. We’re keeping that foot on the gas.”

The Ramsay High School standout described Partridge as experienced and direct in his approach.

“I feel like Coach Partridge is one of those straightforward type of guys,” he said. “He knows what he’s talking about because he’s been doing it for so long at extremely high levels.

“I feel like he’s one of those guys who’s going to get the job done and put guys in the position where they need to be.”

The message from Partridge to the Birmingham, Ala., native has centered on development and projection.

“I think he just sees a lot in me,” May said. “He sees the potential that I have on the field and off the field. He sees the talent I have right now and I think he knows exactly what he could do with it and take it to another level.”

In addition to Notre Dame, May holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon, Florida State, Ole Miss, Nebraska, South Carolina, Mississippi State and Georgia Tech among others.

May has already visited Notre Dame once and is working to return this spring for a practice setting. An official visit is also something he hopes to arrange.

“I was trying to get back up there in the spring, get a little spring practice in,” he said. “Hopefully we can set up an OV.”

If he does make the trip, the focus will be on evaluation.

“I would just love to see Coach actually coaching the guys,” May said. “How the guys bond and how they communicate with each other.”

Spring travel plans are still being finalized, but the priority is clear.

“I’m just trying to get to the schools I’ve been talking to.”
