Zayden Gamble‍ will get his first look at Notre Dame this weekend.

The 2027 Florida safety plans to travel to South Bend for Junior Day on March 21 as the Irish look to gain even more traction in a recruitment that features many of the nation’s top programs.

The St. Thomas Aquinas star holds offers from Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, Miami, North Carolina, Auburn and Washington among others.

The Irish have stood out for several reasons.

“The tradition and the standard and the coaching staff,” Gamble said.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder has developed early relationships with several members of the Notre Dame staff, including defensive backs coach Aaron Henry.

“They like the way I play,” Gamble said. “They like me as a person and they like my character.”

Henry has made a strong impact since joining the program, which has helped the Irish establish themselves more firmly in the recruitment.

“He’s new, but he’s obviously tried to make a push into my commitment and he definitely has,” Gamble said.

The message from the Irish staff has centered on long term development and the broader opportunities the program can offer.

“There’s no place like Notre Dame and nobody’s going to have a better 40-year plan than Notre Dame,” Gamble said.

The upcoming trip will give Gamble his first opportunity to see the campus and evaluate the environment around the program.

“I’m going to see how the coaches coach,” Gamble said. “I’m going to see what the players are like and I’m going to see how much fun everybody has.”

Gamble already has official visits scheduled with Florida, Miami and Ohio State. He’s looking to add a couple more to that list.

He visited Ohio State last weekend and plans to take additional spring trips to Georgia, Georgia Tech and Oregon as he works toward a summer decision.

He’s planning to commit on his birthday, July 16, and has already sorted out what the biggest factors in his ultimate decision will be.

“My relationships, playing time and my development.”
