The wait is over for Maddox Weil‍.

The 2028 Indiana wide receiver picked up an offer from Notre Dame during a visit to campus on Friday.

Weil received the news from Irish receivers coach Mike Brown and announced it shortly after the visit, which marked another return to South Bend following previous trips.

“I was meeting with Coach Brown,” Weil told Irish Sports Daily. “We were just catching up and he told me I had the offer.”

It was an offer the Northrop High School standout had been hoping for.

“I was very happy,” he said. “I’ve been there a few times before. I’ve just been waiting and ready to receive an offer from there.”

The atmosphere within the program continues to stand out to the Fort Wayne native.

“The culture there,” he said. “It’s a very good culture there. Football’s obviously very good. All the coaches there are very cool and everything. The players are very, very exciting to be around.”

Weil got a peek inside the program during the visit, including watching practice and meeting with head coach Marcus Freeman and other staff members.

“The practice was good,” he said. “Players were playing fast and everything, especially the receivers, so it was good to see. I saw the campus and everything. It looked pretty nice. I had meetings with Coach Freeman and other coaches.”

In addition to Notre Dame, the 5-foot-10, 160-pounder holds offers from Indiana, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Penn State and Purdue among others.

With the offer now in hand, Weil is focused on continuing to stay in contact with the staff and to return for more visits.

“Next step is just to keep getting better, keep improving, and then getting back there again,” he said. “Just keep building relationships and everything.”

The Indiana receiver already has several visits planned for the coming weeks.

“Other schools I’m going to would be Kentucky and Cincinnati two weeks from now, and then Ohio State and Michigan also,” he said.

When he returns to South Bend, Weil wants to take a closer look at how the wide receiver room operates day-to-day.

“I would say just spending more time watching the receivers and everything and how Coach Brown coaches,” he said. “Seeing all the details with how he coaches and the whole coaching staff really.”

For now, the impression from his latest visit to Notre Dame is clear.

“I feel good about them. The school’s close to home. Great quality program. Just being back there today, I spent the whole day, it was really good. It was a good experience to be there and learn more about everything.”
