If someone was rankng Power 4 coaching jobs, Purdue would be near the bottom. They were in fact the worst Power 4 team during the 2024 season and were ranked 122nd in F+ (combined FEI and SP+ rating) when they went looking for a new head coach.

Barry Odom was hired and had a difficult job in year one. There were some good players on the roster at Purdue during the previous season, but almost all of them transferred.
