Familiar faces helped make Maddox Weil’s visit to Notre Dame feel even more natural.
The 2028 Indiana wide receiver made his way to South Bend for the Blue-Gold Game last weekend and spent time reconnecting with fellow Fort Wayne natives Mylan Graham and Tae Johnson, both of whom helped show him around during the visit.
“Yeah, it was good,” Weil told Irish Sports Daily. “I had a good time.”
The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder took in the full gameday experience, including time around the program before and after the spring game.
“We got there, ate, listened to some former players speak,” he said. “Then we went out, watched some warmups and then they played the game. After that, we stayed and talked to some of the players.”
That time with Graham and Johnson gave him a closer look at life inside the program from a player’s perspective.
“They really just showed us around,” he said. “They’ve enjoyed their time there.”
The on-field product also stood out as Weil evaluated Notre Dame in a live setting.
“It was good to see it,” he said. “I think both offense and defense played well.”
Weil also connected with wide receivers coach Mike Brown during the visit, continuing to build that relationship after the Irish extended an offer last month.
“I talked to Coach Brown for a little bit,” he said.
The Fort Wayne, Ind., native is still working through the early stages of his process, but already has a plan in place to return to South Bend.
“I plan on coming to camp in the summer,” he said. “Just to work with him and see the place again.”
Additional camp stops at Ohio State and Alabama are also expected as he continues to evaluate his options.
For now, Notre Dame has made a strong early impression.
“It definitely feels like a great place to be. The players are all cool, the coaches are great to be around. It just feels like a good place to be.”
