2028 DE Ismael Schiefer Eyeing Notre Dame Visit After Offer
Notre Dame continued its recruiting travels this week in Florida and several coaches made a stop at national powerhouse IMG Academy.
2028 defensive end Ismael Schiefer was quickly offered by the Irish and it was an offer the 6-foot-4, 245-pounder had been wanting.
“It meant a lot,” Schiefer told ISD. “I worked very hard to get the offer from Notre Dame. I've never been to Notre Dame, never had any contact with any Notre Dame coaches, so it felt good to get an offer from that school, especially seeing all the stuff that they've been doing as an FBS independent.”
While Schiefer admits he doesn’t know too much about Notre Dame at this point, the three-star prospect is looking forward to learning more about the school.
“Notre Dame is definitely a school I want to visit,” explained Schiefer. “They have a lot of recent accolades and many different things. My knowledge about Notre Dame as a whole is very limited, but I would love to learn more about the school.”
In the meantime, Schiefer remains focused on development at IMG, where the day-to-day competition and structure closely resemble the college environment.
“IMG most definitely helps me prepare for college in the way we structure things,” stated Schiefer. “Visiting other colleges, the coaches basically told me a lot of the same stuff we do on a structure level and a workload level is basically the same thing you are doing back at your school. I feel like IMG most definitely prepares me for college.”
With nearly 20 offers already to his name, Schiefer’s recruitment is quickly gaining momentum, but the rising prospect is using the attention as motivation. Schiefer believes adding more power to his game is the next major step.
“I feel like I pass rush very well,” Schiefer said. “I feel like I also do a good job in the run-stopping situations of getting off and hand placement. Some things I feel like I do need to work on is being a little bit more powerful when it comes to those things, having a little bit more force when it comes to it.”
Even with the growing attention, Schiefer is trying to stay grounded while enjoying the process and enjoying each offer.
“It's been surreal,” Schiefer stated. “This is something you kind of dream about as a little kid and you work hard for it. I definitely feel like I've been earning them and I feel like these are becoming full-circle moments.”
Schiefer plans to finalize his summer visit schedule in the coming weeks and Notre Dame is firmly in consideration alongside several other major programs.
“I have been talking to a lot of coaches about schools to go to,” said Schiefer. “I’m definitely going to visit Texas and Texas A&M. Notre Dame is also a school, amongst some others, that I'm putting in the list.”
