Few quarterbacks in the 2029 class have seen their recruiting profile rise faster this spring than Khayel Sam Fong-Talia‍.

The dynamic Georgia signal-caller has already noticed some differences between Notre Dame and many of the other programs pursuing him.

The young quarterback recently added an offer from Notre Dame to a growing list that also includes schools like Georgia, Auburn, BYU, South Carolina, Arizona State and Colorado among others.

“There’s just a feeling of excitement with Notre Dame,” Fong-Talia told Matt DeBary of DawgPost. “They’re a big-time program. They have academics, athletics, everything.”

The 6-foot-2, 234-pounder recently moved from South Carolina to Cumming, Ga., where he will suit up for South Forsyth High School this fall after a breakout freshman season at Dillon High School.

As a freshman in 2025, Fong-Talia threw for 2,315 yards and 25 touchdowns while adding 230 rushing yards and five more scores on the ground.

Notre Dame’s culture and overall direction under Marcus Freeman immediately stood out to the talented dual-threat quarterback.

“They definitely have something going on over there with Coach Freeman,” he told DeBary. “That offer meant a lot to me. There was just something special about it.”

The Peach State quarterback also confirmed plans to visit South Bend this summer as part of a busy offseason travel schedule.

“We’re going to get up there for summer, definitely,” Fong-Talia said.

He’s already visited Georgia multiple times and plans to return to Athens this summer along with Georgia Tech and South Carolina in addition to Notre Dame.

Fong-Talia has emerged as one of the more intriguing young quarterbacks in the country because of his combination of arm talent, size and mobility.

“I think the strength of my game is that I’m just able to put the ball everywhere on the field,” Fong-Talia said. “I’m able to put our offense in the best possible position.”

He also believes his physical ability as a dual-threat separates him from many quarterbacks his age.

“I would say running the ball is definitely a strong part of my game,” Fong-Talia said. “I’m around 230 and run a 4.68.”

As his recruitment continues to accelerate, the 2029 quarterback already has a clear vision for the type of program he wants to play for long term.

“Some things I look for in a coaching staff is one that makes us feel like family. How they treat not just me, but everyone else who's with my family and my coaches. I think that's huge for me. Then I’m looking for the right culture. This kind of authentic culture you can feel. That special feeling. Also a coaching staff that believes in me and my talents.”
