It’s been a rough decade for the Michigan State football program after they were riding high at the peak of the Mark Dantonio era when they won 11 games or more in five of six seasons starting in 2010.

Things started to go south in 2016 with a 3-9 record. Dantonio coached three more years after that, but they were mostly uneventful and he retired in 2019.

He was replaced by Mel Tucker and after a promising 11-2 record in his first full season, things dropped off considerably.
