Trey Tagliaferri‍ isn’t waiting around for anybody.

In the last month, the 2028 New Jersey quarterback has added offers from schools like Ohio State, Georgia, Indiana, Florida, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Stanford and Missouri to a list that already included programs like Penn State, Alabama, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Rutgers and Syracuse among many others.

“It's something I wanted my whole life,” Tagliaferri told Irish Sports Daily. “I'm super grateful for it. I'm very excited to have these offers from all these schools.”

The schools that have offered already own his attention at the moment, but the Bergen Catholic standout isn’t eliminating anybody else just yet either.

Notre Dame is one school to keep an eye on.

Although the Irish have already offered three 2028 quarterbacks, Notre Dame made a strong impression on Tagliaferri during his visit to South Bend for the Blue-Gold Game earlier this spring.

“It was a great experience,” Tagliaferri told Irish Sports Daily. “Just seeing the campus. It's very historical.”

The visit carried added significance because of his family's longtime connection to the Irish.

“My dad's been a Notre Dame fan his whole life,” Tagliaferri said. “So it was a great time for him.”

The experience resonated with the entire family.

“My mom loved it, loved the campus,” Tagliaferri said. “Campus was beautiful.”

Beyond the scenery, Tagliaferri came away impressed by the tradition surrounding the program.

“The history and tradition between the football, the stadium and the facilities was amazing,” he said.

The visit also provided an opportunity to spend time with head coach Marcus Freeman and quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli.

“Meeting Coach Freeman and Coach Gino was a great time too,” Tagliaferri said.

Freeman himself stood out.

“He's a great guy,” Tagliaferri said. “He seems like a really personal guy and a guy who really cares about his players.”

Tagliaferri saw much of the same in Guidugli.

“He seems like a coach who's very invested in his players as well and wants the best of his players,” Tagliaferri said. “And is there when they need to be coached or anything else.”

Tagliaferri made it clear an offer from the Irish would carry significant weight.

“It would mean a lot,” he said. “They would definitely come on my list.

“It would definitely mean a lot because again, my dad's been a fan his whole life. And getting out there, Notre Dame's definitely a special place.”

Despite the rapidly growing offer list, Tagliaferri already knows what will matter most when the time comes to make a decision.

“Relationship with the coaches,” he said. “Trust with the coaches and position-wise, depth chart with the quarterback room.”

His development has been aided by competing at one of the nation's premier high school football programs.

According to Tagliaferri, playing under Bergen Catholic head coach Vito Campanile and against elite competition every week has accelerated his growth.

“I've gotten so much out of it,” he said. “I wanted to come up here to play in the best competition.

“Being under Coach Vito has helped me a lot with coverages, plays, learning the system, learning new systems between changing plays and just being able to adapt to different styles of plays and being uncomfortable.”

The recruiting process may not last much longer.

Quarterback recruitments continue to accelerate across the country and Tagliaferri acknowledged a decision could come relatively soon.

“Maybe around this summer or beginning of the season. But just when I'm feeling like the best with it and with the school.”
