Notre Dame has its second graduate transfer of this portal season.
Former Minnesota RHP Caden Capomaccio has given his pledge to Notre Dame and will spend his final season in South Bend.
Capomaccio, a native of Green Bay, appeared in 43 games for the Gophers and finished with a career ERA of 6.85 and 61 strikeouts in 67 innings.
The 6-foot, 197-pounder had his best season in 2026 as he finished with 3-0 with a 3.66 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 19.2 innings. Opposing batters also hit just .209 off Capomaccio this spring.
Notre Dame’s pitching staff needed to bolster its depth following an inconsistent 2026. Capomaccio will provide valuable experience and a little more velocity as he’ll get up to 94 mph on his fastball, combined with a good slider.
