Notre Dame’s offense made significant strides in 2026 and Shawn Stiffler is continuing to add proven production through the Transfer Portal.

Grand Canyon graduate transfer Trevor Schmidt has committed to Notre Dame, giving the Irish another experienced and powerful bat in the lineup.

The 6-foot-1, 225-pounder appeared in 34 games with 28 starts for Grand Canyon in 2026, hitting .373 with 11 home runs and 36 RBI. Schmidt also recorded 14 multi-hit games.

Schmidt arrives in South Bend after a winding collegiate journey that has taken him to five different programs. He began his career at Arizona before transferring to Fullerton College, then to LSU in the fall of 2024, back to Fullerton College and most recently to Grand Canyon University.

At Fullerton College in 2025, Schmidt hit .329 with eight home runs and 55 RBI. The year before, he posted a .343 average with 13 home runs, further establishing himself as one of the more productive junior-college bats in the country.

With Schmidt joining fellow transfer addition Logan Tribble, Notre Dame continues to prioritize offensive firepower as it looks to build on the progress made in 2026.
