If Maddox Weil had any doubts about whether he was truly a priority for Notre Dame, they were eliminated on June 15.
The Irish reached out to the 2028 Indiana wide receiver on the first day NCAA rules allowed coaches to directly contact recruits in his class, reinforcing the message they had already been sending throughout the spring.
"It meant a lot," Weil told Irish Sports Daily. "Just them showing that I'm a priority for them and that they thought they should be one of the first ones to reach out to me."
That relationship has only continued to grow since then.
After attending the Blue-Gold Game in April, Weil returned to South Bend last month for Notre Dame's Grill & Chill event and Irish Invasion camp and has continued regular communication with the coaching staff since.
"I went there for the Irish Invasion to just chill there and then I went back to work out there," Weil said. "I've continued communication with people there throughout the summer."
The Northrop High School standout described the visit as another positive experience.
"It was good just to go back there and then see some other recruits there and everything," Weil said.
Weil continues speaking most frequently with recruiting assistant Justice Bathas and wide receivers coach Mike Brown, both of whom have consistently reinforced the same message.
"Those are the two that I stay in touch with the most,” said Weil.
"They just tell me that I'm one of the top guys, a top priority and that Notre Dame is a place that I can definitely be at for them."
In addition to Notre Dame, the 5-foot-10, 160-pounder holds offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn, Indiana, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Penn State and Purdue among others.
Weil plans to return to South Bend for a game or two this fall while continuing to evaluate his recruitment. He also hopes to visit Ohio State, Indiana, Alabama, Tennessee and Missouri this season.
As familiar as he has become with Notre Dame, he still has plenty he wants to learn.
"I just want to continue building the relationships with everyone there and then just continue to learn about football there and then everything else there. The campus, academics, just everything there."
