Official Visit Confirms Things For Notre Dame WR Commit Jackson Coleman
Jackson Coleman spent last month's official visit doing more than touring Notre Dame's campus.
The 2027 Irish wide receiver commit continued building the relationships he believes will define his college career long before he arrives in South Bend.
"It was incredible," the Colorado native told Irish Sports Daily.
"It was just great being back, just an awesome visit."
The official visit gave Coleman another opportunity to spend time with the coaching staff while getting to know the other members of Notre Dame's 2027 recruiting class.
"I got to hang out with all the other commits, spend more time with the coaches and it was really cool just getting to be in that environment a little more where I'll be spending my college career," Coleman said.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder believes those relationships can begin paying dividends well before the class ever reports to campus.
"Starting now is going to affect what happens maybe next year and help us win championships and all that," Coleman said.
One of the future teammates Coleman spent time with was fellow wide receiver commit Julius Jones Jr.. The Florida wideout who wasn’t publicly committed to the Irish at the time of the official, but did announce his pledge to Notre Dame shortly afterward.
"I think we'll be a really good duo," Coleman said. "I'm excited to work with him, get better with him and excited to play with him."
While Coleman is eager to begin his college career, Notre Dame's staff has encouraged him to keep his attention on the present.
"They've just told me to get better and work," Coleman said.
There is a familiarity between the Irish staff, especially offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock, and Valor Christian’s head coach Mike Sanford, who was once an assistant at Notre Dame.
"Coach Denbrock has a good relationship with my head coach and he trusts everything that we're doing here at Valor,” Coleman said.
“I think they're letting me focus on winning a championship with the team."
That approach has allowed Coleman to devote his full attention to his senior season at Valor Christian while knowing South Bend will be waiting for him.
"It is kind of crazy that college is only a few months away. But I'm excited to be on campus and excited to get to work early."
