If you thought Notre Dame was done landing elite defensive line recruits, think again. They’re assembling a defensive line room that is as talented as any in the country and the latest addition is another big time talent.
Darieon Prescott is a long (82.8 inch wingspan) and explosive (9-2.1 broad jump) athlete who has the potential to develop into a special player and he’ll be a foundational piece for Notre Dame’s 2028 recruiting class.

What he does best:
Prescott has an explosive first step. He has the ability to be a disruptive presence in the backfield.
He has the twitch and reactive athleticism that are going to make him incredibly difficult to block in pass protection.
His motor is special. Even when he’s blocked he doesn’t often stay blocked because of the effort he plays with consistently.
There simply aren’t many defenders who have the strength and length to make this type of play.
What he needs to improve:
His raw talent is through the roof, but raw is the appropriate word for it. He’s pretty much a blank slate when it comes to his hands as a pass rusher. He needs to learn how to use his length in every respect.
He should be someone who can consistently convert speed to power as a pass rusher with a long arm and he needs to develop his punch as a run defender. He lets blockers get to his chest too often and can lose leverage at the point of attack.
What’s his ceiling?
I thought he showed significant progress later in his sophomore season. That’s when he started to put things together and his physical talent truly shined.
He weighed in at over 250 pounds this spring and he’s going to be downright scary for anyone to block with his twitch as a junior.
Prescott has the traits to develop into a dominant player. He is only scratching the surface as a player and will need to put in work to best utilize his physical tools, but the combination of elite tools and elite motor are undeniable.
This is home run addition for the Irish and yet another prospect who could become one of the best in the country at his position.
