2028 DE Jeremiah Figaro Talks Growing Notre Dame Relationship
Jeremiah Figaro knew Notre Dame was a place he'd seriously consider if the Irish ever offered.
A month after earning a scholarship in South Bend, the 2028 Massachusetts defensive end has seen the relationship grow stronger.
Figaro picked up his Notre Dame offer following a standout performance at Irish Invasion in June and has remained in touch with defensive line coach Charlie Partridge ever since.
“I'm in contact with him…honestly, I think almost every day, really,” Figaro told Irish Sports Daily.
Partridge's messages haven't centered solely on football, though.
"He's always texting me about just having a great day," said Figaro. "He tells me how his day's going, how his week's going, his weekend, just stuff like that. Just personal stuff."
That approach has stood out to the Brookline, Mass., native.
"It means a lot," Figaro said. "It means that he's really trying and it just shows me that he really wants me to be there to be a part of that team. That's just awesome. It's a great feeling."
The relationship has only reinforced the impression Figaro formed before he ever even met Partridge.
"Great person," Figaro said. "Great person. I've never heard anything bad about him.
“I've been a Notre Dame fan for a long time. When he came to Notre Dame from the Colts, I heard a lot of great things. My stepdad's a big fan of Notre Dame, so my stepdad was telling me a lot about him. This was before I even had the offer, this is before I even really started blowing up.
"I just heard a lot of great things about him. So when I finally got to meet him, it was just like those things I heard about him, it showed in person and it shows now through text and on the phone."
The 6-foot-5, 200-pounder from Dexter Southfield also holds offers from Nebraska, Tennessee, North Carolina, UCLA, Texas Tech, Maryland, Illinois, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Wisconsin among others.
The former wide receiver/linebacker-turned-defensive end is already planning to make another trip to South Bend this fall.
The Dexter Southfield standout will be on campus when Notre Dame hosts Rice in September, a visit he believes will give him a much better feel for the program than a summer camp.
"How they coach their players, definitely," Figaro said when asked what he'll be watching. "I want to see them coach. They were coaching me up at the camp, but I'm not one of their players, so they kind of can't talk to me the same, if you know what I mean.
"It's a different way. The relationships they have with their players are different. They can talk to them differently. They can kind of treat them differently. They can push them in different ways. I just want to see how they really coach without parents around and stuff like that."
Figaro also hopes to make trips to Virginia Tech, UCLA, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Rutgers and Florida State this fall.
Asked whether he has started thinking about a commitment timeline, Figaro said he isn't quite there.
"Not yet."
