Notre Dame was tied 6-6 at halftime against Texas A&M in the 2024 season opener and the Irish were receiving the kickoff to start the second half. They gained nine yards on the first play of that drive and then zero yards on the two runs that followed it.

Many coaches would have elected to punt in that situation, but Marcus Freeman gave the greenlight to go for it on Notre Dame’s own 33-yard line. Riley Leonard converted with an eight yard run and earned a new set of downs.
