Notre Dame and Rice technically played 60 minutes of football. The game might as well have been over on the second play of scrimmage, though. That’s when Adon Shuler hit Rice receiver Davis Lane on a jet sweep on a hit so vicious, Rice head coach Scott Abell was asking for targeting.
It not only was a clean hit, it was practically a perfect tackle. He got his head across the body of the runner and his helmet helped pop the ball out for Boubacar Traore to scoop it up and score.
