As expected, the Notre Dame offer Daveon Belhomme‍ landed earlier this month set off a domino effect that is making the decision at least a bit more complicated than it appeared it would be at one point.

In the immediate aftermath of landing the offer, some tightly connected parties floated the idea of the 2027 Florida cornerback scheduling an official visit to South Bend, taking that official and then committing to the Irish as a matter of procedure.

It no longer seems like it’ll be that easy after offers from several schools followed Notre Dame’s, which opened the floodgates.

Iowa, Wisconsin, Florida State, Iowa State, Ole Miss, Auburn and Texas A&M have offere since the Irish.

"It's good," Belhomme said. "It comes from putting in all the hard work during the summer, having a great senior season. Everything is just finally coming."

Belhomme is set to take an official visit to Notre Dame for the Irish’s game against Boston College on Nov. 14. Auburn will be next with an official visit on Nov. 21.

"I like the coach," he said of Auburn corners coach DeMarcus Van Dyke. "He's a very good coach. He sent some DBs to the league. He played DB himself. He played college football, played in The League, he played all of that."

Texas A&M could get a visit as well.

"Texas A&M is trying to get an OV set up," he said. "They're a really good program. They’ve got a good '27 class of players."

The Irish never assumed this would be a layup. The contact since the Oct. 3 offer has been steady. Belhomme talks most with assistant receivers coach Shaun Shivers, a Florida native.

"It's been good," Belhomme said. "Keeping in touch. They’re watching my film, telling me that I'm balling. Just encouraging me to keep going.

"(Shivers) just tells me I'm a baller. That's what he tells me. He tells me to keep going."

Shivers has made a strong impression.

"I feel like he's a very good person. I feel like he's a very good coach. Even though he's not a DB coach, he still has a good relationship with me, connects with me,” Belhomme said.

Belhomme is planning to make a final decision after he completes his officials and acknowledged the decision in front of him is harder than the one he expected to make.

"Yes, sir. It is.”
