Brayden Tillman's head coach does not hesitate when asked what makes his quarterback a national prospect.
On the field, the 2028 Michigan quarterback’s starting point is obvious, according to Traverse City West High School head coach James Wagner.
"Brayden presents what you're looking for in a Division I quarterback," Wagner told Irish Sports Daily.
"He's got the physical attributes that you're looking for in terms of size and speed. He's got the arm that you would like to have. He can make all the throws from sideline to sideline or vertically as well."
Tillman currently holds offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Florida State, Illinois, Iowa, Purdue and Iowa State among others. Notre Dame has shown some interest as well, but has not offered just yet.
The Irish have been patient in terms of recruiting quarterbacks in 2028 for the past few months, but that is likely to change soon and Tillman is one that could eventually find himself on the Irish’s board.
The Traverse City West standout pairs his physical tools with the mental side of the position.
"He's got it in between the ears," Wagner said. "He's got the mind for the game. He has a vision for the game. He understands the game very well, and his leadership and his poise that comes with him is definitely something that you would be wanting in a next-level quarterback."
None of it is finished, which Wagner framed as part of the appeal.
"He's come a long ways," he said. "It's been a fun journey just to watch him grow and it's been fun for him to just blossom into his own."
The character matches the talent, according to his coach.
"He's very solid all around," Wagner said. "In the classroom he gets A's and B's and he's pretty smart in the classroom as well and gets his work done. He's a guy that is super reliable, consistent and somebody that is looked at to be a leader in the locker room.
"He's a very enjoyable young man to coach who has high character and a lot of class."
