Xavier Hasan‍ has spent his senior season doing a little bit of everything for Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.) High School and the 2027 Notre Dame commit is coming off one of his biggest games of the year.

Against Sanderson (N.C.) High School, Hasan returned an interception 103 yards for a touchdown, caught a 30-yard touchdown pass, made five tackles and forced a fumble, the kind of complete performance that has defined his final high school season.

Cardinal Gibbons closes the regular season this week and will head into the playoffs. He knows what will decide how far the Crusaders go.

"Really just scoring," Hasan told Irish Sports Daily. "If we're able to score consistently, I know our defense will be able to get stops, so offensively just getting the ball in and going, that would be ideal."

Hasan will be part of that effort on both sides of the ball in the playoffs, helping out at wide receiver as well as defensive back.

"Just being able to help my team get to a state championship would be great," Hasan said.

His versatility has been on display all season, even with a new coaching staff coming in this year.

"I’ve played every DB spot," Hasan said. "I played field and boundary (corner), I played strong and free (safety), and I played nickel."

He believes that experience will pay off in South Bend.

"Just understanding defenses, understanding what's happening around me and being able to play wherever I needed to play at Notre Dame," Hasan said.

The Irish staff has told him they plan to start him out at corner and have him learn nickel as well, which would put that versatility to use right away.

Hasan was at Notre Dame for the Michigan State game and will be back on Nov. 7 for the Miami game.

"That's going to be a really big game," Hasan said. "You can't really describe the feeling of it. You know what's important, you know what's special, and it's really going to determine the season. So I'm excited to just watch some good football."

He admitted it started to hit him at the Michigan State game that he will be on that field next year and expects the feeling to be even stronger next week.

"I think it's really going to hit me November 7th when I'm up there," Hasan said.

Hasan is excited about being part of the Irish’s 2027 recruiting class.

"It's a tight group, especially between the DBs. We have a little group chat, so we talk and the whole class is real friendly with each other. It's pretty active, so I really like the class."
