At this point, I just don’t know what to say about this 2026 Irish team.
I watch a lot of college football. I think I’m fairly educated on the the best teams and Notre Dame.
I could go into commentary about the game but what does that matter at this point? The only thing that really matters is how they perform in six days, and if they can win next Saturday.
That’s all that really needs to be said at this point.
Notre Dame is a lot like many other teams in the country….they have talent, but they just can’t seem to put it all together.
That is pretty much any team in college football right now. Jekyll and Hyde…..that’s the new reality in college football.
Maybe my greatest fear has come true. College football has turned into college basketball. Where NIL and the transfer portal have taken away the consistency of the game we all crave.
As fans, we just want to know what to expect…and watching this team, I don’t know what to expect. But I also don’t know what to expect from any other team on any given day.
The 2026 season comes down to next weekend. Win and ND’s hopes are still very much alive. Lose, and I don’t see a path to the playoff.
There really isn’t much anyone can or will say that will change what is about to happen.
And what is about to happen? I haven’t a clue.
The good news is I do feel this team has a 5th gear they can reach, but they’ve been stuck in third most of the season.
I don’t know what it’s going to take to get out of third gear, but they have to figure it out before Saturday.
Miami is a good team. While they’ve shown weaknesses, they continue to rise above them and win. They’ve been very resilient, and that’s a good thing to be in these types of games. Notre Dame can be that team as well.
I’m just not sure which ND team will show up, and if they will have the best game plan and we will see the best play calls to win the game. That’s not a comforting feeling going into the biggest game of the year.
Nothing I’m going to say here now or later is going to change anything, so what’s the point of saying anything?
We will just have to wait and see what happens.
