Cyrus Zuah had his choice of game-day visits this fall and the 2028 Maryland linebacker included Notre Dame on the list for a simple reason.
"The relationships that I have with all the coaches and just them showing how much they really want me," Zuah told Irish Sports Daily.
"It's definitely going to be a good game."
This weekend’s trip will be his first to South Bend and he knows what he wants to see when he gets there.
"I really want to see how the backers play," Zuah said. "That'll give me a heads up on how they practice, how they play. I'm just excited to see how the backers play as a defense."
The Mount Saint Joseph standout holds offers from Notre Dame, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Stanford, Georgia Tech and Boston College.
Zuah has already been to Tennessee for the Alabama game, Penn State for the USC game and Michigan for the Western Michigan game this fall. He plans to visit Alabama the week after the Notre Dame trip.
For now, his focus is on his own season. Mount Saint Joseph closes with Loyola and Calvert Hall before the playoffs and recruiting will be on the back burner until that is finished.
"I'm just focusing on the season," Zuah said. "We’ve got some pretty tough games we got to play and then we’ve got playoffs. So after that, then I'll start focusing more on narrowing down."
Zuah talks to Notre Dame linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary, Director of Scouting DJ Bryant and Director of Recruiting Carter Auman. He is looking forward to seeing how Jean-Mary coaches in person.
Jean-Mary has made it clear why he wants Zuah while also building a real relationship with him.
"He just loves the way I play. We always just talk and have conversations about football and outside of football and how life is, really."
