Landon Miller‍ has been to Notre Dame before, but the 2028 California linebacker has not seen it on a game day.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder returns to South Bend on Saturday for the Irish's primetime showdown against Miami, his second trip to Notre Dame after a June visit when he earned his offer from Irish linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary.

"It's always going to be a great game with College GameDay there," Miller told Irish Sports Daily. "I'm just ready for the atmosphere and ready to watch the team play."

Miller did much of the sightseeing on his first trip, so he’ll be more focused on the action Saturday night.

"I've already been there and toured the place," Miller said. "I'm just excited to see the team atmosphere and how they go about things, and obviously watching the linebackers play in the game.

"I play linebacker, so I think it would just be a cool thing to watch them play in person and see what actual game day is like."

Miller talks often with Irish Director of Recruiting Carter Auman and gets on FaceTimes regularly with Jean-Mary and head coach Marcus Freeman. The message from the staff has been a consistent one.

"They always say how I fit Notre Dame," said Miller. "They say Notre Dame is a place for me.

"They really want me there. They're recruiting me pretty hard, and obviously it's a school I'm looking at, so I can't wait to see where that goes."

Jean-Mary is at the center of Miller’s attention.

"I really like Coach BJ," Miller said. "That's a very important aspect to me in choosing what school I'll be deciding on. The linebacker coach is going to be the coach I'm with the most."

The campus made its own impression on the De La Salle standout.

"I don't really care too much about campuses when I go there outside of the football stuff, but that was definitely a once in a lifetime thing to see," Miller said. "Not too many people get to go there from California, so it was definitely a great experience."

In addition to Notre Dame, Miller's offer sheet includes schools like Arizona State, Cal, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington among others.

He has already been to USC, Oregon and Cal this fall, and Notre Dame is his last planned visit. He might still try to get to a Michigan or LSU game depending on his high school playoff schedule.

Miller plans to cut his list to five toward the end of his season, in late-November or December, and expects a final decision sooner than the spring or summer timeline most recruits follow.

The most important factors in that decision are already clear to him.

"I'm really looking for a good linebacker coach who has developed people on and off the field. I want to have a good relationship off the field outside of football, a guy who has sent people to the NFL. Just a good coaching staff, good environment, a good place to be, somewhere that fits my lifestyle."
