Notre Dame picked up a major 2028 commitment on Saturday when Zaiden Jernigan‍ announced his pledge to the Irish.

The 6-foot, 195-pound Louisville High School standout made the decision during his third trip to South Bend, after attending last season's USC game and returning over the summer.

Jernigan chose Notre Dame over Alabama, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU, Michigan, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, UCLA, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee and Oregon among dozens of offers.

The Irish recruited him as a priority for months, with running backs coach Ja'Juan Seider and head coach Marcus Freeman leading the push.

"They ain't going to go a week without talking to me and just let me know I'm a top priority for them," Jernigan told Irish Sports Daily last week.

Heading into this weekend’s visit, Jernigan confided to ISD that he was very much considering a decision on the trip, saying his family believed Notre Dame was the right fit for him and he agreed.

"They feel like it's a good fit for me," Jernigan said.

He pointed to what Notre Dame could do for him on and off the field.

"It feels great. They can help me academically and on the field, and they got a lot of traditions."

He gives the Irish five commitments in the Class of 2028, joining edge Darieon Prescott‍, defensive back Andre Jones‍, kicker Owen Davies‍ and edge Asa Burch‍, who committed earlier in the day.
