Notre Dame landed one of its top 2028 defensive targets on Saturday when Asa Burch‍ announced his commitment to the Irish.

The Warren Harding standout was back in South Bend for the Miami game after visiting for the Michigan State game earlier this season, when the Irish first made their move.

"It was spectacular and I felt the love they was given," Burch told Irish Sports Daily last month.

Burch, who landed dozens of offers during the process, chose Notre Dame over Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, Missouri, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and West Virginia among others.

He gives the Irish four commitments in the Class of 2028, joining edge Darieon Prescott‍, defensive back Andre Jones‍ and kicker Owen Davies‍.

He pointed to the tradition in South Bend and a staff that made him feel like a priority from the start.

"It feels amazing," he told ISD. "Feeling the love back really means something to me."

He built his strongest relationships with the defensive staff and head coach Marcus Freeman.

"They keep it real," he said. "They’re never going to lie to you."

The commitment also gives Notre Dame a win over Michigan, where Burch's father played, although Burch has maintained the family ties were never a factor in his decision.

In fact, we’re quite sure Burch’s father supports this decision.
