It did not take long for Notre Dame to close on Julian Bruno‍ once it got the 2028 California linebacker to campus.

The 6-foot-1, 225-pounder announced his commitment to the Irish on Sunday during his first visit to South Bend for the Miami game.

Bruno chose Notre Dame over Michigan, Texas, USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Cal, Arizona, Arizona State, Oklahoma State, SMU and Kentucky among several other offers.

He gives the Irish six commitments in the Class of 2028, joining edge Darieon Prescott‍, defensive back Andre Jones‍ and kicker Owen Davies‍ as well as running back Zaiden Jernigan‍ and edge Asa Burch‍, who announced their pledges earlier in the weekend.

The Irish made their pitch clear to the Grant Union standout for months.

Director of Recruiting Carter Auman stayed in constant contact and told Bruno the staff wanted him to help lead the 2028 class.

"He wants me to be the leader in the class and kind of start it off," Bruno told Irish Sports Daily last week.

Bruno pointed to the program's history and how much the staff believed in him as the reasons Notre Dame pulled ahead.

"Just the history of the program, just talking to the coaches and hearing how much they believe in me and stuff like that. It's really intriguing to me," Bruno said.

Bruno hadn’t publicly identified a timetable prior to his decision, saying he would make his decision whenever the time felt right.

On Saturday, it felt right on Saturday.
