ND Still a Contender for Mustipher

Notre Dame had two defensive tackles commit compete at The Opening. Jayson Ademilola is going to play 3 technique at the next level for the Irish and Ja'mion Franklin is going to play nose guard. Based on what we saw from them this week, it has the potential to be a heck of a one-two punch.
But as they say, you can never have enough defensive linemen. The Irish are still interested in adding another at the position in this class and PJ Mustipher is a prime candidate for the coaches as well as Ademilola and Franklin. They have targeted Mustipher for awhile and were in his ear all week.
“Definitely. I have great relationship with both of those dudes," Mustipher said. "They tell me they want to come to Notre Dame, but they also know I’m just taking my time and really just seeing what’s best for me. But they really want me to join them.”
It would be normal to assume that his brother Sam, the starting center for the Irish, is also trying to persuade his brother to join him in South Bend, but Sam isn't putting the heat on as much as the 2018 commitments are. He wants PJ to make a choice for the same reasons he made his decision as a recruit.
“He doesn’t pressure me. I mean that would be awesome to play with him, but at the same time he’s not rushing me and trying to get me to come where he is playing just because he wants me to make a decision for myself.”
PJ would line up on the opposite side of the ball from Sam if he chose the Irish, but they wouldn't be matched up too often. Mike Elston is recruiting PJ at 3 technique, a spot where he lined up all week at The Opening.
As far as when he'll get back to Notre Dame, his next visit could happen very soon and is likely going to be followed up with a visit during the season as well.
“I’m probably going to be down there in July and if I can, I will do an official."
It doesn't appear he is any rush to make a final call as it stands right now. He has a visit planned for Tennessee this month and "maybe" Alabama as well, so the Irish will have to wait and make those next visits count if they plan on adding him to the class.
What's it going to come down for him in the end for the school that will land him?
"Great academics, first. Family atmosphere, God forbid I ever get hurt or make a mistake, the coaches will have my back. Just family atmosphere. Great academics first and foremost and a coach that is going to develop me to get to the NFL, to get to where my dreams are in the NFL.”
We'll see if Notre Dame can check all of those boxes for him and make it a family affair for the Mustiphers in South Bend. You can never have enough defensive linemen and no one would be upset if the Irish were to land another 4 star interior player to go with Ademilola and Franklin.
